Facility

Our church-owned Ministry Centre was purchased in 2011. The Ministry Centre was previously a seniors lodge and we are working steadily to transform the building into a centre for worship, education and outreach.

The Ministry Centre sits on five acres of beautiful land with a breathtaking view of the town and river valley. Our present sanctuary seats 180 and we have 120 - 140 regular attenders.

Programs and Ministries

We offer a Sunday School program for children from age 3 to grade 7, with average attendance at around 20 children.  A youth group meets regularly for junior and senior high youth, with about 12 regular attenders.

We are active participants in the Religious Instruction program in the elementary schools in town.  For the past several years our church has worked along side the Athabasca Ministerial Association in hosting a week-long yearly soccer camp for children and teens.

For adults there are regular bible study groups that meet weekly throughout the year, at the Ministry Centre and in individual’s homes.

There are many outreach and community activities that our congregation actively participates in (often in a leadership capacity) such as:

  • Interdenominational Riverfront Church Services
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Seniors’ Homes Church Services
  • Preparation and serving of lunches for Funerals
  • Activities for the Calling Lake aboriginal community
  • Preparation and serving of community outreach suppers
  • Participate in the work of the Good Samaritan Mission and Food Bank (through monetary, food and service donations)
  • Participate in the offering of summer camp programs through Camp Living Water (as leaders and counselors)

As a congregation we actively support our members involved in ministry such as youth outreach, mission trips, pastoral visiting, community choir, etc. and we maintain an active women’s and men’s group as a means of reaching out to others for fellowship and teaching.

Worship

Typically, our service begins with several worship songs and then a time of greeting.

Our members value the teaching of God's word.

Children’s Sunday School programs run during the Sunday worship service.

Our music is upbeat and we have several worship teams that lead the worship in music (typically teams of 4 - 6 people).  Several instruments are played (such as guitars, piano, and drums).  The raising of hands and clapping is encouraged.
